Founded in 1925, in 1948 Skoda became a state-owned car company. Since 1991, Skoda has been gradually privatized by selling shares to Volkswagen. Since 2000, Skoda is officially 100% owned by Volkswagen. In 2021, Skoda will sell nearly 900,000 vehicles in 100 markets around the world. Germany and Russia are Skoda's two most important markets.

Most of Skoda's production lines are sedans, hatchbacks, wagons and popular SUVs. In India, an Asian country that has Skoda's participation in the war with car sales ranging from the B-class, C-class, and D-class sedans to B- and C-class SUVs... such as Slavia, Octavia, Superb Kushaq or Kodiaq... In the European market, Skoda has both electric cars that keep up with market trends and are SUVs.

The advantage of Skoda cars is that they share many components and components with high-end Audi or Volkswagen cars, but have a more "popular" price, suitable for ordinary customers. Therefore, many people predict that when assembled in Vietnam, Skoda cars will have the same price as popular Japanese and Korean cars.

Currently, the popular European car segment in Vietnam has only the presence of locally assembled Peugeot and CBU imported Volkswagen. There are also other brands such as Fiat, Dacia, Opel or Skoda that are not officially present in Vietnam yet.
