Famous European Skoda auto enters Vietnam
(Bản tiếng Việt) From November 11 to 18, a delegation of Škoda Auto's top managers from Mladá Boleslav visited Vietnam. Škoda Auto plans to start importing its latest car models manufactured in Europe and so early to Vietnam next year.
At the same time, construction will begin on a production plant in the northern province of Quang Ninh in Vietnam. The first cars could roll off the production line in Quang Ninh province at the end of 2023.
The Škoda Auto delegation discussed these intentions at the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, but also at the Ministry of Planning and Investment in Hanoi.
This is very good news for Vietnamese consumers. They will have an additional selection of famous European car brands with a very long tradition. Not only that, the Skoda brand is familiar to many generations of Vietnamese who have lived, worked and studied in Europe.
Vietnamese consumers will have more choices of European quality cars at a reasonable purchase price.
As far as we know, it is expected that the price will be suitable for quality well known European cars.
However, car experts in Vietnam were quick to point out potential future problems with their plans in Vietnam. According to the preliminary agreement, Skoda's Vietnamese partner will face a strong competition issue in relatively crowed automobile market with very high tax protection from government agencies.
Overall, the Vietnamese car industry and the Vietnamese people will benefit from the participation and appearance of Skoda cars in Vietnam.
As of October 2021, investors from the Czech Republic had invested a total of USD 91.23 million in 38 valid projects, which ranks the Czech Republic 49th out of 140 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
