On July 14, 2020, a preparatory meeting for a business delegation of Czech and Slovak car part manufacturers to survey and seek investment opportunities was held in Slovak-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, 16 Ly Thuong kiet, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.

We were pleasured to have Mr. Lukas Musil, Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. David Jarkulisch, Economic Counselor (from Czech Embassy). Mr. Ninh Huu Chan, VAMA (Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Asossication)  Secretary, Dr. Truong Thi Chi BINH (Mrs.), Vice President and General Secretary of Vietnam Association for Supporting Industries (VASI) and Ms. Nguyen Minh Hong, Secretary of the Vingroup chairman on the automotive segment.

We have informed about Vietnamese Automotive Industry, difficulties and concerns of  Czech and Slovak car part manufacturers  for Vietnam Market.

After productive discussing, we exchanged and agreed to:
- The most difficult thing for Czech and Slovakia automobile manufacturers to pay attention to Vietnam because of the characteristics of the automobile industry and the insufficient attractiveness of the Vietnamese market.
- Production output and demand are not large enough.
- Supporting industry is still weak.

However, with the coming of Vinfast, the quick growth of Thaco, Mekong,  other Vietnamese automobile manufacturers, the requirement for localization of cars, the validity of the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement and the Agreement. EU-VN free trade (August ,2020), all of the aforementioned restrictions have changed in a positive way and are reasonably for Czech and Slovak automobile parts manufacturers to enter Vietnam (in fact is the whole Southeast Asian market).

We agree on the following steps:
- Exchange weekly online updates on new information of Vietnam's automotive industry and information related to this program / project.
- Meet once a month to track work progress.
- The participants agreed to prepare a joint letter to the Association of Czech Car Manufacturers and Slovakia to convince them to meet and present about the new conditions of the Vietnamese automobile market. . This can be done in Prague, Bratislava or Vietnam.
- SVCC drafted and the parties will comment and amend no later than the first week of August 2020.
- Goal: Will organize the delegation of companies producing car components from Czech and Slovakia countries to Vietnam right after resuming commercial air routes between Vietnam and Europe. Expected by the end of 2020.

We would like to thank all attendees of the meeting and would look forward in closer cooperation with all of you.
